Online conference registration is preferred, however other options have been made for those unable to register online (click here for other options).

 NOTE: Full registrations may be transferred among different individuals on different days if desired, but only one conference packet with one conference badge will be issued per registration. If conference registration is purchased for a group, cost will be dependent on group’s AAZK membership status and will state group’s name. All individuals will only be able to enter conference areas if wearing conference badge.

Conference registration entails various questions. Please visit Before You Register when you are almost ready to register.

All conference events, such as Pre & Post Conference Trips, Zoo Day Behind-The-Scenes (BTS) locations and times, and San Diego Zoo’s Safari Park special events, will be offered online for sign-up at the time of registration.

SIGN UP FOR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS. You must be registered for the conference to be able to attend the workshops. If you sign up for workshops without registering, the workshop registration will become void.

Zoo Day BTS’s and the San Diego Zoo’s Safari Park special events will be filled on a first come, first serve basis depending on when you register. Therefore those who register early will have first choices as to areas they would like to visit.

There will be an increase in cost for registration after July 13, 2011.

Hotel: Conference delegates will be staying at the Westin Gaslamp Quarter Hotel.

By air: Conference delegates should fly into the San Diego International Airport (SAN).

Bus from Airport to Westin Gaslamp Hotel, Route # 922: Use San Diego’s Metropolitan Transit System ( for $2.25 (exact fare required) from the airport to the hotel as your cheapest and greenest way to arrive. Route #992 takes 15 minutes and leaves from in front of the airport every 13 minutes. Tell your driver your destination is the Westin Gaslamp Hotel at Horton Plaza. Once you exit the bus on Broadway Avenue, the hotel is on that same side.

Parking: The Westin Gaslamp Quarter is located in beautiful downtown San Diego. Unfortunately, parking will be at a premium with hotel valet parking at $32 per night. The Westin is within walking distance of many popular visitor sites. Public transportation is also readily available to locations like the  San Diego Zoo, SeaWorld and our beaches. Because of this, we invite you to utilize public transportation during the AAZK conference and avoid the need to rent a car or purchase hotel parking. We will be offering delegates with full registration public transportation that they can use while at the conference.

If you will be driving while at the conference, we will be offering discount parking. Be sure to check again as we get the details for parking.
